Born in 1986, lives and works in Guadeloupe.

A self-taught artist, Karib is a visual artist who employs a variety of media to give form to her vision of an intertwining of the past, present, and future. She also explores the concept of “wildness,” a strategy of denying the humanity of others to justify their subjugation or domination.

The artist’s approach consists of reinventing the body of information she gathers during her documentary research. With a particular interest in the Kalinagos—the first inhabitants of the Caribbean—Karib transcribes their experiences to connect them to sensations or stories lived in the present. For the artist, understanding this nearly extinct people provides insights into current geopolitical and social issues.

In 2024, Karib completed a research-creation residency with the last remaining Kalinagos in Dominica. In 2023, her work was exhibited at the Murs Galeries at Guadeloupe Airport.
