Sylvia Eustache Rools has a gift for drawing out different threads of thought, bringing them together and making them coexist with extraordinary delicacy. She feeds on what she sees and what she feels, on her memories and her reading, on the pulse of life and of death. Every lived moment is an opportunity for her to connect seemingly unrelated facts. The same holds true in her “Géologie textile” (Textile Geology), where each color laid on the fabric melts into the next, and in “Archéologie des rivages” (Archaeology of the Shores), where seemingly unrelated objects end up merging into artifacts. It is a body of work in which every step builds the final result, just as every day weaves the fabric of our lives.

"My artistic quest is a return to the shade (an ba fey), a pause on sanctioned knowledge and the reclaiming of a way of being. A struggle to reinhabit obliterated inner territories."
